Reason for treatment? Relief from office stress and my desk oriented work environment which negatively impacts on me producing muscle tension in my neck and shoulders.
Remedial massage to treat sports injuries and to promote muscle recovery.

Impact on everyday life….restrictions on what you could do? No negative impacts.

Why did you choose the Angel Wellbeing Clinic? It is local, friendly and I was impressed by the qualifications held by Julie Curran (my real answer is the same but because you were Australian qualified and those are qualifications that I know and trust, I guess you can’t write that though).

Experience of the massage? Excellent. I wouldn’t see anyone else. Julie takes a holistic approach to her work. She gives helpful advice on small changes I can make to my lifestyle or simple stretches I can do to reduce the tension from building.

What you got from the massage treatment? A de-kinked neck. A sense of relief and wellbeing. An hour of calm. On the sports side of things: better training results, more strength and flexibility.

How did the treatment make you feel? (physically & mentally) Uplifted. Motivated. Fit and healthy.

Would you recommend  Julie to a friend? Absolutely. I do all the time.

Reason for treatment - Neck pain due to balancing phone in crook of neck while Boss dictates from the car for a very LONG time.
Impact - In considerable pain sitting at desk working, also affected home life. Pain = unhappiness.

How did you find out about Julie? Googled Islington practices as local to my home
Experience - Wonderful! Jules has the strongest hands of anyone I have ever met and works wonders with them!

The treatment cleared my pain and my boss has been trained not to do this again. Mentally it was good to do something positive to get rid of the discomfort.
It has improved my day to day life dramatically, no longer swallowing strong painkillers and made me much more aware of my posture.

I would definitely recommend to a friend, in fact my husband visits Jules regularly for his leg and back problems, a colleague from work is being treated by Jules for a horseriding injury and my daughter is seeing Jules very soon for her back problem. I cannot recommend Jules highly enough. She is always cheerful, caring and extremely good at her profession. Thanks Jules!

Reason for treatment? I've had severe back and hip pain for several years.

Impact on everyday life….restrictions on what you could do? I've been unable to run at all, or walk for extended periods of time, stairs were also a problem. This meant that daily activities like getting to work were a strain, and any events were seriously limited to making sure I wouldn't be causing myself more pain. E.g. I went to Brighton for a day trip and after wandering around for one day my hips (and foot) were so bruised and sore that I couldn't walk for 2 days afterwards. It was rubbish.

Why did you choose the Angel Wellbeing Clinic? I like the idea that all the different treatment options are available in one place and that all the therapists work together to help patients. I've been to other places that give lots of conflicting advice so it's a really pleasant change.

Experience with me? (be nice) :o) Julie has been a lifesaver since my first massage with her. She's always explained what she's doing and is friendly and easy to chat to (and laugh with) while treating me. I've always left with follow-up instructions and exercises to do and she's always willing to take phone calls if I need help afterwards.

What you got from the massage treatment? Whatever Julie is doing (generally inflicting a lot of 'good' pain!) is working, because since starting the massage treatments I've had much greater mobility and reduced pain levels, I've still got a ways to go before I'm completely better, but I feel so much better knowing that Julie is involved in the treatment now. It has lightened the daily stress of leaving the house, which is a huge relief.

How did the treatment make you feel? (physically & mentally) Really good!!
Has it improved your day to day life? I no longer plan every second of my day before leaving the house...

Andy came to me presenting the classic tight muscles from running & not enough stretching. He came in with tight hamstrings, ITB's & Calf muscles, although during treatment we found other muscles were compensating to protect these tight areas.

If you need a sports massage or deep tissue massage then you should look no further than the lovely Jules.

She takes great satisfaction in ironing out those post race/hard training session knots. Too much satisfaction some would say! But for me, it is perfect and always speeds my recovery no end!

Is that ok? I didn't mention that you effectively beat the shit out of me each time I see you....

AM from Islington

Anthony came to me with a general sense of tightness all over. He has a high pressured job and outside the office is very active. A combination of his stressful and demanding work environment and hard core training lead him to me..... See what he has to say.....

I came to see Julie for overall stress mitigation and to help me cope with high my highley stressed environment (eg criminal court hearings etc)

I chose the Angel Wellbeing Clinic for massage as it was near my place of work.
Having had massages with Julie I would have to say that she is one of those people that is able to make you feel relaxed from the word go.

The massages have benefited me in a couple of ways. They have improved my sense of wellbeing and have left me feeling more relaxed and more able to cope with the daily grind of work with aplomb.

I would happily recommend Julie to anyone considereing having a massage.

For Julie Curran at the Angel Massage Clinic:

I had pushed my marathon training hard and injured muscles around my knee. I was dismayed as I thought I would not be able to do the race after months of gruelling winter effort in ice and rain.

Jules quickly explored the area and discovered it was not a hamstring injury, then set to work working on the real cause of my woes; under-stretched, stiff and lead-like muscles that had simply seized up. In three sessions Jules used deep massage to tackle my thigh muscles, kneading and pushing the rigidity and pain away.

She taught me how to stretch properly, use ice to assist in my recovery and advised on how and when I should return to my running. In three weeks I was back into training and a week later ran my first marathon recording a time I never though possible. She was attentive and contacted me throughout showing care and attention to detail. Thank you.

I have tried doing many different varieties of yoga in many different places but I feel like I’ve only really started to improve since I’ve started having one to one classes with Christian Gentile at the Angel Wellbeing Clinic.

It’s hard work but I feel like I’m doing the positions correctly and improving every time I go. You can also tailor each session to do what you want to do – and work on areas where you feel you need it. The room is a bit small but that’s my only complaint. Christian is a really good teacher and the price is very reasonable – and the special deal for the first four sessions is great.

The clinic is clean and well-kept. Brian is always up for a chat about the subject of your day (he’s a bit of a psychotherapist!). I find his treatment quick and efficient, straight to the point (or cause?).

Receptionists are friendly. Free apples/water/tea coffee. Toys for kids etc. Flexible on appointments/changes, etc.

I started seeing Brian about a year ago with an ongoing back injury that had been aggravated through rugby. Initial weekly sessions brought the problem under control and regular monthly visits plus gyrotonics sessions have ensured that my back problems have receded and I have been able to pursue sports and leisure interests free of pain.

I chose Angel Wellbeing Clinic simply because of the student prices, which are very thoughtful of students, and because of a possibility to take x-rays in the clinic.

The clinic has a welcoming, cozy and laid back atmosphere. Most of all, I trust Brian in what he is doing. That makes me feel comfortable.

The treatment didn't cure my back in a couple of weeks as I would have hoped for, but it has given me a better understanding of my back. Most importantly, during the treatment I have learned that my back cannot be cured by someone else but me. My chiropractor can only help and advice me with that. From now on I would not trust a chiropractor who told me that my back could be cured with a few treatments. The chiropractor Brian will probably tell you that the only person who can cure your back is you. Brian will help you to understand how your back works and how with rather small changes in your life you can influence your back's wellbeing. In addition to basic chiropractic treatment, the pain is treated with acupuncture which, at least in my case, has been very helpful.

I would recommend Angel Wellbeing Clinic for all my family and friends with back problems.

HA, Bloomsbury

I first attended AWC for a back problem that was starting to cause regular problems and keeping me off work for weeks at a time. Since then (around five years) I have had no problems whatsoever. I have found the clinic and all staff to be friendly, welcoming and highly professional. I really like the fact that not only was my specific problem treated, but my overall lifestyle (posture, exercise, diet etc.) was discussed and very useful, practical advice was given for healthier habits all round.

RH, Stoke Newington

I had not long turned 51, was used to working hard, proud of my ability to lift huge, heavy boxes on a daily basis when suddenly my back gave out on me. My right leg went completely numb. I could no longer walk on my toes. No more high heels! I suddenly felt old. Pure agony and despair!

What to do? I Google “Chiropractors Islington”, jot down a couple of numbers, and then do a phone around. I instinctively like the sound of the receptionist at the Angel Well Being Clinic – who happened to be Brian’s Mum on the day – and book an appointment.

Joy! A no nonsense approach. I was informed that my problem was a herniated disc. My GP had given me the same diagnosis the day before but couldn’t offer me an immediate solution. Relief - I knew I was on the right track.

I was assessed and given a suggested programme. It was explained to me both physically and financially. It wasn’t a “quick fix”. It wasn’t the cheapest. It’s certainly working though! It’s a mix of manipulation, acupuncture, chat and a personally tailored exercise routine.

9 months on and I’m definitely getting there. I’ve avoided spinal surgery. I’m down to an appointment every other week. I’m back in heels. I’m back on track.

I found Angel Wellbeing Clinic by the internet. I was first sceptical as I am used to the U.S. Chiropractic. I have to say I was very impressed by the professionalism of Brian, my sciatica was almost fixed after 2 visits. I like the way he uses chiropractic techniques and acupuncture. I recommend absolutely his clinic if you have any back problems or sciatica issues.

HC, Lisson Grove

I chose Angel Wellbeing Clinic because of its central location and affordable treatment sessions. The members of staff were very friendly and helped calm my anxieties about my back pains. Ever since the first treatments I was able to see an improvement and I was out of pain relatively quickly.

I have recommended this clinic to my colleagues at work who experience back pain and I would definitely recommend it to anyone else.

AB, Clapham

Angel Clinic is very convenient for me to come to and making appointments is straightforward with useful, flexible hours of availability.
The clinic staff are friendly and efficient, and the chiropractic service is n fuss and effective creating a good sense of wellbeing for me.

I would certainly recommend the clinic to others.

MTM, Islington

I chose Angel Wellbeing Clinic because of its reputation and most of all.. it’s local.
What I like about the clinic … very welcoming and friendly.

For nearly ten years, I suffered from pain in my left shoulder and headaches. After four treatments, the headaches were gone. During the course of my treatment, I was not treated as one of the patients in Brian’s clinic, but someone who wants to get better and he is there to help. But he did not stop there, every treatment he continuously encouraged me to change my lifestyle and attitudes towards work and way of life – not overnight of course!

With the services I received i.e Pauline ringing to remind my appointment, early morning appointments a real bonus – makes me feel good at work after a treatment! Where else can one find these extras? Highly recommended.

JL, Islington

I chose Angel Wellbeing because it’s close to where I live for access for work and has brilliant opening times that suit office hours. It’s a small and friendly clinic, so you don’t feel overwhelmed by a formal atmosphere.

What I like most is that the initial consultation covered all sorts of things about my pain that I hadn’t even thought of and that it was a quick turnaround from first appointment to first treatment. Appointments since have been well timed, again around activities going on in my life designed to support whatever I’ve got going on. The great thing is the combination of treatments used – acupuncture as well as chiropractic depending on how I am at a particular time.

It is taking longer than I thought to get to a manageable stage with my back for a return to ‘normal’, but I have taken away tools for managing pain and my body that I use every day with adjustments and additions made as I keep coming back.

I’ve already recommended the services on to a friend looking for acupuncture treatment as the appointment times will also suit her work hours.

RC, Islington

Excellent, friendly and informative service. My back feels better after every session & the treatments have undoubtedly helped kept me free from injury & able to continue running!

ED, Highbury

I have been attending the clinic regularly for several years to relieve chronic back and neck pain related to age and my type of work. After an initial more intensive course of treatment we have settled into a routine which has become an important element of a larger regime of exercise and lifestyle changes which has helped me to effectively manage the condition, with the frequency of treatment now sensibly adjusted to how I am feeling.

I have recommended the clinic to several friends and will continue to do so, both for the evident skill of any given treatment and for the understanding of how the chiropractic work sits within the bigger context of health and well-being.
